Our Dairy Services
Animal Health Plan
Trace Element Testing
Optimise the conversion of dry matter to milk solids. Maximise immunity and health to reduce the incidence and severity of disease. Our partner Agvance, can provide a custom mineral blend based on test results.
Nutritional Consultancy
Feed budgeting and feed assessment. Experienced vets who actively farm to provide advice combining animal health knowledge and nutrition.
Mastitis Prevention and Control
On-farm observation of milking routines, milk cultures and machine testing to establish the cause of mastitis. We use Infovet for mastitis benchmarking to compare farms within groups and across similar farm types. Our designated in clinic milk laboratory combines a Mastatest machine and incubator for rapid culture and sensitivity results. We provide Antibiogram reports with recommendations for antibiotic usage to reduce resistance and increase sustainability.
Non-Cycling Cows
We have a range of innovative programs to condense calving patterns to increase submission rates, maximise conception resulting in more days of milk for your herd.
Ultrasound Scanning
The latest scanners and experienced operators produce accurate ageing. All data recorded onto Infovet or Minda.
Reproductive Consultancy
In depth analysis of your results using Infovet and collar data. Benchmarking to identify areas with potential for improvement.
Dry Cow Therapy Administration
Dry cow therapy administration including teatsealant. We know that dry off can be a busy time on the farm so we have a team of technicians to ease some pressure.
Training Seminars
Attend one of our seminars including calf rearing, reproduction and lameness to upskill and have a good catch up with your colleagues.
Accredited Body Condition Scoring
We have Dairy NZ accredited Body Condition Scorers. These can provide either individual or herd body condition scores. This can be used to identify lighter cows for preferential feeding, drying off decisions, assessment of previous nutritional input and preparing feed budgets.
Lameness Prevention
Lameness prevention using the Healthy Hoof program. On-farm training to upskill dairy employees.
Calf Disbudding
Our calf disbudding services take the pressure off farmers. Calves are sedated and a local anaesthetic is applied around the horn bud, then horns are burned and flicked out so they will not grow back. This is also a great time to look for extra teats (and remove them) and tend to any navel infections. Some farmers use this time to tag their calves, DNA test and vaccinate too. We also offer pain relief injections for calves. When sedated for disbudding our team will also check for extra teats and navel infections. BVD/DNA testing and clostridial vaccinations are optional extras.
Vaccinations
We offer a wide variety of vaccinations to keep your herd healthy. Your Animal Health Plan will schedule vaccinations at the right time so you can fit it all into your busy schedule.
Drench
The right drench at the right time will prevent many animal health incidents. Make use of our on-farm delivery to free up time on farm.
Faecal Egg Counts
Faecal egg counts are a great way to monitor worm counts in your young stock.
Animal Health Investigations
For those sick calves or for mobs with reduced growth rates, we have capable vets to make a diagnosis and provide a treatment plan. We use our lab for in-house cultures, microscopy to diagnose parasitism, or coccidiosis and an external lab for a quick turnaround to get those calves back on track.
Heifer Synchronisation
We have a number of programs to synchronise your heifers. Producing an earlier mean calving date allowing heifers more days to get back in calf. You will also increase the speed of genetic gain by producing AB calves and have more days in milk. Benefits include earlier calving heifers, more days in milk and replacements from your most genetically superior stock.
Teatseal Trailer
Reduce heifer mastitis, improve welfare and maximise efficiency over calving by teatsealing your heifers. Our experienced team makes a difficult job seem easy from set-up to administration and clean-up.
We offer a wide range of professional veterinary services in both companion animal and large animal fields.
Our modern purpose-built clinic allows our dedicated team to perform routine large and small animal medicine, diagnostics, surgeries and emergency services. We pride ourselves on developing strong, caring, relationships with all our clients and tailoring to the individual needs of their animals.
