Vaccinations

We routinely vaccinate dogs, cats and rabbits for a number of fatal infectious diseases.

Dogs

There are a number of infectious diseases that can be fatal or cause illness. These diseases are contagious and require vaccination to produce immunity to these disease. These diseases include Canine Parvovirus, Infectious Hepatitis (Canine adenovirus type-2), Distemper virus and Canine Parainfluenza. We also offer a vaccine for kennel cough (Infectious Tracheobronchitis). Kennel cough is required if your dog is in close contact with other dogs such as at boarding kennels and shows/pet days!

Puppies can be vaccinated from 6 WEEKS of age and require a booster 4-6 WEEKS later. It is important to vaccinate soon after reaching 6 weeks old, this is because the immunity passed down from the mother is on the decline meaning that the puppies are susceptible to infectious diseases.

Yearly boosters are required and allows for an annual health check.

Cats

Cats are vaccinated against Feline flu (Herpes virus, Calici virus and Chlamydophila Felis) and Feline Panleukopenia. These vaccinations stimulate systemic immunity and aid in the prevention of disease. Cat flu is incredibly contagious and causes severe illness. Fortunately Panleucopenia is rare these days, however it is still a threat and is commonly fatal.

Kittens can be vaccinated from 8 WEEKS and will receive a second vaccination (>1month) over 12 weeks of age.

Rabbits

Rabbits are vaccinated against Rabbit Calici Virus (RCV) which causes a fatal haemorrhagic disease.
Rabbits can be vaccinated from 10 WEEKS of age. An annual booster is recommended.

Consultations

We offer consults of at least 15 minutes to assess your animal’s health and any queries or concerns you have, whether that is to check a lump or because your cat is drinking too much.

We have a range of diagnostic equipment that will aid in the process of diagnosing any conditions. Our diagnostic equipment includes:

  • Ophthalmoscope
  • Radiography (X-ray)
  • Ultrasound
  • Urine Testing
  • Blood glucose
  • Blood Testing

Preventative Medicine

Preventative medicine describes anything that prevents disease, this includes vaccinations, worming, flea treatments and prophylactic dentistry.
Any of these types of products can be picked up at our clinic or for working dogs we offer a worming programme in which we deliver worming tablets to your home each month.

Neutering

We recommend neutering your animals from 6 months of age. This has a number of benefits including the reduction of cancer rates later in life and can also have a positive effect on behaviour in terms of aggression or wandering.
Included in the cost of the procedure is careful anaesthetic monitoring, pre and post pain management and aftercare.

Surgery

In addition to neutering, we perform a wide range of operations. These include routine lump removals, or intestinal foreign bodies, or more specialised operations such as cruciate repair or fracture fixation.

Dentistry

Dental disease is incredibly common in pets, they can show signs such as bad breath, bleeding gums and going off hard food. We offer a dental check consultation where we can advise on dental management and the requirements for any dental surgery.
We have state of the art dental equipment that allows us to undertake a number of dental procedures such as tooth extractions, scaling and polishing. These are all done under a general anaesthetic with a nurse monitoring.

Nutrition

Diet is incredibly important in the condition and health of your animal. The diet can be specified for a specific disease or the type of activity. We offer a wide range of diets at our shop. We supply brands such as Royal canin, Eukanuba, and Hills. Our vets will be more than happy to advise on feeding your pets or working dogs. The wide range of veterinary prescription diets are also available.
